To pray to Jesus or God?

I should pray to Jesus or God or to pray to God through Jesus name.. then according to evangelical christians believe that praying in jesus name to God then where is the idea that Jesus is God and human at the same time is not contradictory that evangelic christians say Jesus is God but they pray to the Father in jesus name.. and catholics pray to Jesus directly telling him Lord and my God.. as a prayer of a catholic book says Jesus you are God of merciful.. but christian evangelicals say heavenly Father.. in the name of Jesus.
