What do you think about the military/industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us about?

When some one wants to reduce spending on the military, they get labeled as weak and someone without a plan for a more secured country. Yet Roosevelt said to "Speak softly and carry a big stick". President Eisenhower stated in his farewell address about a M-I-C threat. What impact do they have on today, like the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
