I have a 99 eclipse and its making a wierd metal on metal sound, wat can be wrong?

when i was driving it yesterday i skid and really nothing happend. the same day i turned it on and there was nothing wrong with it, it was perfect, but the next day i turned it on and it makes a wierd metal on metal sound, its very loud in the begining. when i put it on reverse it gets higher on drive it is loud but not as loud. then when i press gas it goes away but when i stop on the stop light it comes back. i am sure its not from wheels or brakes.
