How do you set up a remote webcam?

I want to set up a webcam at a second home so that I can do security surveillance (ie what is going on there) when I am not there - presumably I will need to link it up to a computer and leave that on all the time, hooked up to the internet? What is the best way of doing this? Do you have any tips?
